The Right of Way (ROW) Career Training Program develops the skills of those interested in entering the right of way profession and succeeding in this highly-demanding and expanding field. It focuses on the issues, tasks, challenges, strategies and hands-on knowledge required by individuals who plan on working in the energy industry. Instructors for the Right of Way Career Training are from CLSU and are known experts in their specialized fields.

Certificate Requirements: All eleven sessions must be completed to earn a certificate.

FREE ROW Career Training Program

  1. ROW Introduction – This session will introduce you to the Right of Way Industry and the role it plays in the Energy Market in the Private Sector which includes pipeline, electric utilities and renewables.
  2. Phases of a Project – This session will follow a project through the steps needed to successfully complete the clients’ objectives and ensure a timely, cost effective delivery of ROW services and much more.
  3. Electric 101 – This session provides key concepts and fundamentals for ROW Agents on electric transmission and distribution projects.
  4. Pipeline 101 – This session provides key concepts and fundamentals for ROW Agents on pipeline transmission and distribution projects.
  5. Renewables – Includes key concepts and integral basics for ROW Agents working on renewables projects, including wind, solar, etc., as well as highlighting differences between renewable projects and ROW projects.
  6. Public Sector – This session includes ROW Services for Public Agencies and provides an overview of the Uniform Act and FTA Circular 5010.1e.
  7. Good Faith Negotiations – What are Good Faith Negotiations? Good Faith Negotiations are essential for any type of acquisition agent.
  8. Non-Environmental Permitting – This session will introduce participants to non-environmental permitting – the types, challenges, and the process.
  9. ROW and Agricultrue – This session will provide you with an understanding of the impacts of ROW on agriculture and topics that are essential to understand for successful negotiations with farmers.
  10. Data/Document Specialist – This session will provide you with the fundamentals to get started in the industry as a Database/Document Specialist. It would provide you the tools that you need in order to excel in this pivotal role that is essential to the success of projects.
  11. Title – This session will provide you with the fundamentals to get started in the industry as a title agent.
